Leipzig, London and letters: The UK-German Bears project
Denfield Park Primary School, Rushden, and Schule 5, Leipzig, have just taken part in our UK-German Bears project. During the programme, Ben the UK bear travelled to Schule 5, where pupils learnt all about London and created posters about Leipzig to send to their peers in the UK.
Alex the German bear spent three weeks at Denfield Park Primary and was able to share his experiences of World Book Day and Red Nose Day with pupils at Schule 5 via the Bears blog. The project culminated in pupils from both schools getting to know each other better by exchanging letters about themselves.
Take a look at what the bears have been up to on the Bears blog!

FLA/ELA Ambassador projects
Radio shows, creative writing, cultural parcel exchanges - these are just a few of the projects that our FLA/ELA Ambassadors have been running in schools during their year as language assistants. During our seminar in London in May, FLA/ELA Ambassadors met and had the opportunity to present and celebrate their projects and activities this year, and to reflect on the impact they've had, as well as their own learning.
Discover what some of our FLA/ELA Ambassadors have achieved and take a look at some photos from our London seminar and their projects in schools:

New: Thematic discussion area
Do you have pupils who would like to share their views on intercultural topics online? Our new thematic discussion area allows pupils to get involved in debates and discussions with other young people. A new question/topic will be posted in German every half term.
This half term's question focuses on the impact of technology on the German language.
Teachers can use the online area as an activity in lessons and can use example essays written by our Scholarship participants as a resource in the classroom.
