Science Seminars

Diving into cultural exchange through STEM!

To celebrate the Year of Science, UK-German Connection organised two youth seminars on the theme: Seas and Oceans.

The Year of Science 2016-17 was an initiative led by the German Ministry for Education and Research. We invited young people from around the UK and Germany to get together at two youth seminars in Hamburg and Southampton to learn, explore and exchange on the issues and challenges facing our seas and oceans. The seminars were organised in collaboration with the British Council in Germany.

Wellies, workshops and water: what did young people get up to at our first youth seminar in October 2017?

Youth Seminar 'Seas and Oceans' 2

Plastic pollution and what can we do about it? Young people from UK and Germany tackle big questions at our second UK-German youth seminar in March 2018.

"I enjoyed meeting other like-minded teenagers with a similar interest in the future of our seas and oceans. Not only did this opportunity open my eyes to the German culture, language and way of life but also differences in the UK, from Scotland to Ireland."
