New grant: for teachers visiting their partner school
Our new Partnership Visit Fund provides financial support for teachers who wish to visit their (prospective) partner school in order to gain an insight into the school and/or plan activities between their young people.
Funding is available to help set up, revive or develop partnership activities or to support teachers who have taken on a new role in an existing partnership.
Host a teacher from Germany
"Our school felt that we had brought a piece of the world into the classroom by hosting the German teacher for 3 weeks. It encouraged our students to see things from a different perspective, preparing them to become good citizens." (UK teacher).
Francis Askew Primary School has just hosted a teacher from Germany as part of the 'Host a Teacher' programme. Despite German not being taught at the school, the visiting teacher brought German language and culture to every class in the school and shared her teaching experience with staff, many of whom plan to incorporate her ideas into their lessons.
Pupils were so enthusiastic when learning about daily life for children in Germany, that both schools wish to develop their link, and plan to use Skype to enable the children to communicate and learn about each other's cultures.

Case study: pupils investigate sustainable and inclusive transport
Dukeries Academy and Gesamtschule Rheydt-Mülfort took on an investigative project to find out how their local transport networks can be made more sustainable and inclusive and to develop awareness of special needs and environmental problems related to local infrastructures.
Pupils from diverse backgrounds and cultures worked together to create a joint survey of transport habits and quiz members of the public. The cross-curricular project, which also involved local primary schools, has renewed enthusiasm for German and exchanges across the years, and also had a massive impact on the local communities.
"The purpose of the project was sustainability, not only in environmental terms, but also for the contact between the Dukeries and Gesamtschule Rheydt-Mülfort." (UK teacher).
